Tuesday! Went to Popeyes to get their Tuesday's special: $2.79 for 2 pieces (1 drum stick & 1 breast). Thursday also has good deals: $3.99 for 3 pieces but I'm usually busy on Thursdays so I won't have the chance to go Popeyes..

I bought 6 Tuesday's special so all together there are 12 pieces (1 order - 2 pieces of chicken).
Again 1 Tuesday's special is $2.79 for 2 pieces (1 drum stick & 1 breast)
- i ordered spicy =) it's not too spicy
- the skin is really crispy!! =D (unlike KFC chicken, their chicken is always soggy)
- the meat is so moist and yummy! not dry at all =)
- it is definitely so much better than kfc chicken!!!! =D

  1. I have been a big fan of Popeyes, I recall started back like 10 yrs ago, however I "heard" this location is not as good (according to my friend who works near there)

I am a bigger fan of their popcorn shrimp and butterfly shrimp, taste awesome~and friday I always go buy them, hahahaha

If you ever read their halal cert, it's quit funny "all chickens are hand slaughtered" lol

    2. the reason why KFC chicken becomes oily, because they stop using transfat oil. The crunchy look of Popeye chicken makes me wonder if they use unhealthy transfat oil.

    3. Popeyes chicken switched to trans fat free oil back in 2007, they are using Canola oil.

BTW to make deep fried food crunchy....oil is not the only answer.

    9. Actually, there is one location left in Toronto, may be they are making a comeback, they were all gone a few years back.

    10. Grace, I know in general KFC is overly salted, but the one near Main Street Station was good, not many salt, crispy, it's very decent that you think it's not a KFC lol

    11. Hareluya I believe you !

Even though all KFC in Canada using the same batter mix supplied by the franchiser, if the individual store or the individual who coats the chicken with the batter take some extra care to shake off the excessive coating that will make their chicken more crispy and less salty.

    13. haha thanks MJ, this post has reminded to take some photos on the eglington KFC, as the building is probably 50 years old or more, very historical building ( as in KFC lol )

When I go HK, KFC never popped my mind, it's only HK local food lol
However, when I go China, I go to KFC quit a lot (for ice-cream!!!yum), but their traditional chicken is expansive (2x rmb per 2 piece) i was like errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, the rest are 2x combo tho

    14. The timing is very important as well, they are all good if they just left they deep fryer, if the chickens are sitting under the warmer for too long, the chickens will become soggy if they fry them again they become too dry.

I had sampled the best Popeyes Chicken once at Markham Rd/Kingston Rd location, but the next time I went back it was totally different story.
